Norwegian Bliss 7 Night Alaska Seattle Sea Sea from Seattle, Washington

It feels like a big ship that's taken on the trappings of one that's smaller and more upscale. One 10-minute session of laser tag on the Bliss will cost you $9.95. …and delicious complimentary snacks and unique desserts, many with an international flair and not available anywhere else on the ship. But the worst part was when the Captain came out and, even though I was sitting second row center, didn’t even acknowledge my week-long attempts at seduction with a little wink or nod or some other sign that he knew I existed. In a final desperate grasp at my dream, I imitated what I’d seen like 2,000 crazed women do earlier and flashed him while bobbing up and down and shouting in a glass shattering tone, “I love you Ringo” and back to the brig I went.

NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line kicks off the 2022 Alaskan season with Norwegian Bliss from Seattle

The final crime occurred when I was informed that the dessert I’d ordered wasn’t ready yet and would I like the tiramisu (!!!) instead. You’ll recall I sacrificed an entire night of blissful cruise sleep to tiramisu like 72 hours ago and vowed to never order it again. Anyway, the food was very good, but only about 10% better than what I’ve been enjoying in the MDR and certainly not worth the extra $49 (not including the wine) it would have cost me without the voucher. You'll find an international mix on Norwegian Bliss, which we expect to continue during its seasons spent sailing in Alaska. Though the line has traditionally drawn a lot of families, Bliss might be less appealing to families than other Norwegian ships, due to the larger number of for-fee activities, adult entertainment and Deck 5 kids' club location.

If you have The Haven rooms can you invite guest from the other decks to dinner and or drinks in the Haven area?

If you want a more serene spot to enjoy your buffet breakfast without having to walk all the way back to your cabin, go one deck down to the Observable Lounge. It’s not crowded in the morning, there are plenty of nice spots to eat, there are beverage stations, and there’s a continental breakfast set up to supplement your buffet items (fruit, pastries, cereal, deli meats, and cheese). If you are on one of the Glacier Bay cruises the Port side has all of the glaciers that the ranges point out. We did the bay from an aft balcony so the narriation was way ahead of us - but we could see both sides of the bay. Since you are doing the Endicot Arm, port side will provide you better vistas on glacier watching day.

A Few Tips for Debarkation Morning

Note that any outside activity is weather dependent and will be closed if it’s too cold and/or rainy. On my last NCL cruise (to Antarctica/South America in December) I missed skillet cornbread night in the MDR because it was my son’s birthday and he wanted to celebrate at Teppanyaki. I’ve regretted prioritizing my kid’s happiness over that cornbread ever since. So I was NOT going to miss it tonight even though we were scheduled to cruise through the Endicott Arm fjord during dinner. It was so quiet in the dining room it was like being in church and let me tell you, that cornbread was a religious experience.

Like any vacation, you should make some basic arrangements. Let your credit card companies and cell phone company know you will be traveling. You will also want to head to the bank to grab some small bills and cash for tips. Lastly, double check that carry-on to ensure your passports and all necessary documentation are securely stowed away and not accidentally left at home. Once your final payment is processed, one of the last steps is to complete your online check-in. Print your Cruise Contract and your luggage tags, along with copies of other documents like shore excursion tickets, airline confirmation, and your hotel confirmation.

It is the responsibility of each individual to determine whether you are capable of engaging in any activity. Participation in any activity or excursion is at your own risk. Alaska is home to more than 30,000 grizzlies, but the state’s cruise industry is experiencing anything but a bear market as momentum of last year’s record-breaking season is expected to continue in 2024.

Day 4: Juneau

” Like maybe her gender identity changed between the antipasto and the risotto. I should mention that the bottle of wine I selected was called 19 Crimes, which I order every time because it’s the only one I can pronounce. But tonight it seemed very on brand and I offered to share a glass with my waiter who’d committed all 19 crimes before the 7 o’clock rush.

Day 5: Icy Strait Point

Just keep in mind the show starting time and whether or not that conflicts with any dining reservations you might have or if it would go too late for an early morning port of call the next day. But if you don’t mind letting loose and having fun with it, it could be a good time. Check the schedule for activities that seem family-friendly as a few were a little PG-13. There are two waterslides in the Aqua Park, which also includes a tipping dump bucket and water cannons on a splash pad. Ocean Loops has a clear section and it dips out over the side of the ship.

Norwegian Bliss Review

NCLH's major shareholders are the corporations Apollo Global Management (American), Genting Group (Malaysian) and TPG Capital (American). In 2017, the brand NCL had a worldwide cruise market share 8,7% (passengers) and 8,4% (revenue). NCLH (shipowner) owns the brands NCL, Oceania, and RSSC-Regent. Let's take a quick food tour of Norwegian Bliss — complete with appetizers, main courses, and desserts.

I also just read where the Oceania Regetta is going to berth/lay up  in Astoria at a cost of 75,000/month. They indicated that NCHL wanted to send other ships there for layup but with a major COVID-19 outbreak at a local seafood factory gave the town cold feet about berthing a cruise ship. They also said that the ship had around 90 of the 400 crew members. Ward Cove is away from downtown Ketchikan, where all the other ships dock. Ice Strait Point is an artificial tourists village on a fairly isolated area with nothing much to do except go on a zipline or walk in the woods or a depressed fishing village called Hoonah (I do see lots of eagles there, though). Skagway is more memorable, with a great historical museum and period-look, although I also like Sitka, since it has a nice seaside walk in town and a park full of totem poles and a creek that should be full of salmon then.

It's simply a refined indoor haven of calm, and we've never seen anything quite like it on a mainstream ship. The gym is always my least favorite spot on any cruise ship, but I hated it even more on the Bliss, probably because I found it too hot and too small for the size of the ship and thought it opened too late in the morning (6am). For the size of the gym versus the size of the ship, it really should be been open 24/7 to have a prayer at accommodating everyone weird enough to exercise on vacation.
